The last chapter closed
The death acknowledged

Words hung in the air likes stars in the sky begging for the day to save them from their shadows

Stillness

As the door shut
I clenched my chest
Feeling for my heart
And I found
Emptiness
A cavity
A hole
A blank spot

As I carefully searched the space that once held a heart
I stopped
And grabbed hold of a word
Of a lyric
Of a purpose

Hesitating for a moment
I looked around
And took it
Placing it in the palm of my hand
Feeling its pulse

For years
I wandered
Lyric in hand
Clutched safely
Kept secret

Until one day
I found another lyric clutching hand
And soundlessly
My lyric willed my hand forward
And as I reached out to it
It reached out to me
And our lyrics met
And linked
And for the first time
In a long time
In that cavity
In that hole
In that blank spot
I started to feel again
